New Team and Member Registrations for 2025

Hi all

There's not long to go until the NEW Sprint season starts (which will coincide with the first F1 race of 2025).

Until now, the teams had been placed into specific Leagues based only on a rough calculation of their 2024 results, which changed during the course of last year as a result of an occurrence of meddling with the credits awarded to one team on one project.

So, over the course of the next couple of days, I'll be re-calculating all of the credits earned for each TEAM so as to finalise the make-up of Leagues 1 and 2 (and possibly 3, if there are enough teams to make it viable).

Likewise, the Registered Members will be finalised into their respective Leagues, again based on the revised credits earned during 2024.

As with last year, ANY NEW Team or Member registrations (approved since the start of 2025) will be accepted into League 4 and at the approximate half-way stage, some Teams and Members may be promoted (or relegated) depending on their achievements as from 1st January 2025.

Hopefully the forthcoming season will run smoothly and without any major issues, though of course, it is very possible that some projects may suffer downtime or task availability issues at various times, so we'll all have to deal with any problems as and when they occur.

The Team Leagues have now been confirmed based on the Total Number of BOINC credits earned (via the Sprints) in 2024.

UPDATE: The Total Combined BOINC credits earned during the 2024 Sprints was 8,228,902,407. A simply staggering amount, so well done to every team for their contributions.

There are 29 teams carried over from last year so League 1 has 10 teams, League 2 has 10 teams and League 3 will have 10 teams - 9 carried over from 2024 plus one new team for 2025.

(Note: Some Teams changed Leagues just over half way through last years season, to reward those teams that were generating more BOINC credits and therefore to give them the motivation to crunch more. And some teams dropped down the league as they were not strong enough to earn any FB points. So their COMBINED BOINC Credits from each League are shown above).

I will try and get the Members League uploaded in due course, but it has taken more time to compile the above and I have run out of time to finish the member league allocations today.

I've now updated the FB Member Leagues for 2025.

We currently have 89 registered members and the results from the BOINC credits they earned in 2024 have now been tabulated.

It should be noted that the Total Combined BOINC Sprint Credits earned by *all* the FB members listed below, (ONLY during the Sprints), was 3,873,513,095. That's a simply HUGE amount of support given by FB volunteers towards the BOINC projects .

Plaudits shown be given to League Member miklos m. who topped the League ahead of all the rest, earning over 60 million credits MORE than the 2nd place Member !

As with the Team credits, any Member who was in 2 different Leagues during 2024, have had their BOINC credits combined into a total figure.

The Top 3 Leagues all contain about the same number of Members, while League 4 comprises some new members or those who appear not to be active in a majority of the Sprints or who have not generated a significant total of credits (less than 2.5 million) during the entire year !

I hope the movement between leagues is also planned for this year, because I don`t think I could be competitive in League 1
Unfortunately, I need to optimize my involvement in competitions after I received a huge electricity bill for a previous year.

Hopefully, I would be brave (and rich) enough not to give up sprints, so the main fun remains.

Hiya - and thanks for your appreciation.

Most of the statistical work had already been done during the last year, with BOINC credits being tabulated after each Sprint.

But then a certain team figured out a way to earn more credits on one Sprint, so *ALL* of my previous work during the year was WASTED.

And I also had to wait until after my business accounts were completed (which is a much higher priority) before I could turn my attention to capturing all the FB stats from all 24 Sprints. It took most of two working days to collate, combine, sort and tabulate them all - from 3 Team Leagues, 3 Member Leagues and all 24 Sprints. That's 144 different screen captures !

Yes, there is a plan to make some movement after the first 12 Sprints so as to adjust the Teams and Members based on their Sprint credits. And I have NO problem if you would prefer to be allocated to the next lower League...as you were a borderline case anyway and it worked out you could have been in League 1 or League 2. Just let me know BEFORE the 1st March 2025 !!

And yes, the rising cost of energy has, I think, made many people reduce their voluntary contributions to BOINC projects so it is understandable that personal and family priorities should come first.

Hopefully, I would be brave (and rich) enough not to give up sprints, so the main fun remains.

No, it is not too late as any team can register at any point. And I've now registered the team in League 4 so all the BOINC credits earned by the team on any of the supported projects will now count towards your team total.

But obviously, some teams have been registered before today and so they have a head start. However, that is only relevant for the Marathon, so you still have 9 months in order to catch up with other teams.

The first Sprint started earlier today, your team could earn some FB points if you encourage your team members to process PrimeGrid work units.

I'm pretty sure you change team on each project, which you appear to have already done. FormulaBoinc teams credits are for all members of the team whether the user is registered with FB or not.
