Hi all
I was checking the Formula BOINC admin page and it appears that Sebastien has now coded the team/member registration acceptance section into the existing framework.
This now allows me to accept/reject both Team and Member registrations.
Given that only 25 teams and 56 members had actually registered by the original closing date of 31st March, it seems a bit extreme that this should be a "final" date...and what we really need is to have more competition and more teams/members to join?
So, I hope you do not think it is unreasonable of me, but I would like to remove this deadline and continue to allow teams and/or members to join in. I will check for new registrations once a week, so please allow me the courtesy to not accept new registrations the moment they are submitted.
And since the last couple of registrations were accepted, it appears that new member stats are only be collected from the date when their registration has been accepted.
So existing teams/members should not be disadvantaged by new registrations as existing teams/members will have had a head start by registering earlier in the year
Does anyone (or any team) object to this?
Please let me know what you think.
regards
Tim

Re: User Registration is now OPEN
Hi all
As User registration is now open all year round, I've now moved this section to the 2024 section, so that any one can view who has registered and for which team.
Hopefully, more users will register and this might encourage more teams to get involved?
regards
Tim

Hi
It is the 2023 topic *MOVED* into 2024 section, as the individual memberships were all going to be transferred over, so they were all still going to be relevant.
That was, until Sebastien updated the FB website to say that FB 2024 would not be happening.

Re: User Registration is now OPEN
Oh you mean each member has to register individually ? and maybe it was already like this last year ?
I had completely forgotten and so I assume we must promote this in our forums !
(and it answers my question in the other topic you did )

Re: User Registration is now OPEN
Hiya
Yes, you figured it out and yes, last year FB introduced the Members League for the first time.
But the one part of the website that was broken last year was the ability to promote or relegate teams and members between the 3 different Leagues. So, every Team stayed in Team League 1 and every member stayed in Members League 1.
But for 2024, we have have already evened up the Leagues, with 9 of last years teams in League 1, 9 in League 2 and 10 in League 3. NEW Teams will be entered in League 3.
And during the season, those teams that are very active will be promoted between Leagues and those that are not supporting FB will be relegated.
FYI:
For the Team Leagues, ALL of the Teams BOINC credits are collected, whether volunteers are registered or not and these credits are displayed in the Team Leagues.
Volunteers need only register *IF* they want to be included in the Members League as members will score individual FB points based on their relative performance when compared to other registered members. But yes, if you want to promote individual members to register on your team forum, then this will be very helpful.

Tim
Re: User Registration is now OPEN
Hi,
I registered last week as a user (and tried again last week-end), but got no news since.
My nickname doesn't appear in the Members league.
Is there some kind of issue or just some time to wait?
Thanks.

Re: User Registration is now OPEN
Hi
Please advise me HOW you registered?
Did you use the FB website here:
https://formula-boinc.org/howtoregister.py
If so, what is the BOINC username that you used (if different to your forum username) and WHICH project website did you use to register with?
Once I know this, I can check and find out what has happened - BUT anyone who has registered using the FB website (as above) is always sent a welcome message by me, once I have seen the registration request.
regards
Tim

Hi Tim,
Thank you for your answer.
Yes I used https://formula-boinc.org/howtoregister.py to register by sending a private message to 2 projects.
Firstly with NFS@Home and secondly with TN-Grid.
I used this username: Rhodan71 (which is the same as my forum username).
Regards.
Alain
