Hi all

I've just uploaded to the FB website the dates of the forthcoming 2025 season of FB Sprints, of which there are 24, just like 2024.

But please note that I have NOT set the start/end times yet, as these have yet to be announced (although they are likely to be the same as the corresponding F1 race in 2024).

So *all* the times are currently set to 00:00 UTC, but this will change once the official timings are released (although some times have been released but in some cases, it has not been noted if these are local times or UTC times )

Hi all

I've just populated the membership database for both Team and Member Leagues for 2025.

This just means all currently registered Teams and Members are now signed up for 2025.

HOWEVER:

I have created a 4th League for both Teams and Members and every Team and every Member has been entered into the relevant League 4.

Teams for 2025:

I hope to then set up a "Qualifying Sprint" early in 2025, and those Teams and Members who actually take part in this Qualification Sprint, will then be re-assigned to League 1, 2 or 3, depending on their actual 2024 performances.

And those that do NOT qualify, (in the above event) MAY be promoted to a higher league, once they show a willing commitment to actually take part.

So, in theory, there may be some Teams and some Members who score zero BOINC credits (in the Qualification Sprint event) and they will stay in League 4. Teams and Members can contact me at any time AFTER the Qualification Sprint, to put their case to be considered for promotion to a higher League.

Newly registered Teams and Members for 2025 will also be admitted to League 4, until they start earning credits and then they will be admitted to League 3 for the 2025 season (and with possible promotion during the year, depending on their 2025 performance).

I would hope to repeat the Promotion/Demotion event about mid-way through the Sprints, so as to try and keep a "level playing field" so that Teams and Members with similar RACs are all in the same League.

Did I miss the qualifying sprint event?

Seems that most (but not all) of the 2024 teams at least have been distributed over the 2025 Leagues already.

No, you've not missed anything so far.

The Sprint qualifying event is still in the works to take place....probably by the end of this month.

(I need to set some time aside to contact each Team founder and see if they want to participate in the 2025 season).

Initially, I've promoted a number of teams based on their 2024 performances, into Team Leagues 1, 2 and 3 and this is just to check that the "back-office" systems are working correctly. As the next task will be to ratify all the rest of the Teams, into the correct Leagues.

More than just 'some teams' were promoted though - there's only 5 left in League 4.

But at least I can now proudly brag that we are squarely in the lead of our League...

I don't like your Idea of a Qualifying Sprint, why do you think this is necessary ?

Somewhere I read that you plan this Qualifying Sprint for the last weekend in January, I have to go in hospital at this time and I'm afraid that I can not participate

If you think this Qualifying-Sprint is really necessary, you should promote the date and the project as early as possible, not like in Sprint-Modus late at the Sprint-Start. No one has the possibility to organize himself. If I miss a sprint in the Year, thats one thing, but if I miss the Qualify-Sprint that has negative consequences for me.

Did I already say this: I don't like this Qualify-Sprint !

The whole idea of a Qualifying Sprint was simply to see which Teams and which Members were taking notice of Formula BOINC and who wanted to be pro-active in supporting the entire Challenge Series.

And then I can delete those Teams and Members who do not take part.

For those who are already earning credits, it's not a problem, as it is obvious they are already ACTIVE. But there are many who maybe forgot they are involved and maybe they should be removed from the Leagues?

So, please do not worry about this !!

Hi all

Given the high number of responses from Team founders who have confirmed their participation in the 2025 FB Season, I have NOT set up a "Qualifying Sprint", as I do not think it would be worthwhile now. (The idea was simply to see which Teams wanted to continue competing on the FB Marathon and Sprints).

And I am hopeful that the allocation of Members into the various Leagues (based on last years BOINC credit totals) will be justified as the season moves on.

So I think we are almost set to start the new Sprint season at 6am (UTC) on 13th March

This was requested in 2024 but it looks like it was never completed as requested. Please remove me from ALL leagues and the DB in general. There is no sense in me taking a slot that will never be used and could be utilized by someone else.
